The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has stated that the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, has introduced a wide range of initiatives to bridge the gap between the rural and urban areas in the state.

He highlighted that his office has been impacting on all the rural areas with road rehabilitation, the provision of transformers, and water projects among others, in Ikorodu, Ijede and Ibeju – Lekki.

Dr Agbaje wrote today, on his social media handle.

“The Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has intensified efforts to bridge the urban-rural divide through a wide range of rural development initiatives.

“This was highlighted during the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held yesterday, where the Office of Rural Development showcased key accomplishments, including the rehabilitation of rural roads, installation of 42 and subsequently 63 transformers, completion of over 80 water projects, and the empowerment of more than 2,000 residents.

“The Office of Rural Development has been instrumental in driving transformative projects across areas such as Ijede, Ikorodu, and Ibeju-Lekki, resulting in improved infrastructure, clean energy installations, and enhanced social amenities.”

He also said that the government through his office has also been supporting food security and partnering Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Councils (CDCs), to bring about development in the state.

“Further emphasizing inclusive governance, the Office has launched agricultural initiatives such as fish processing, goat rearing, apiculture, and bio-fortified crop farming, benefiting communities like Isheri Integrated Farm and Ketu-Epe.
Strategic partnerships with over 5,000 Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Councils (CDCs) have fostered active grassroots engagement, with recognition provided in the form of grants and buses during the Annual Community Day Celebration.

“Ongoing and new projects, including road construction and the distribution of 500kVA transformers, reinforce the administration’s commitment to the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda and its vision of building a truly inclusive 21st-century economy for Lagos,” Dr Agbaje added.
