In continuation of its effort to ensure inclusive education for all children, the Igbogbo Students’ Union (ISU), through the Children Education Fund Week (C.H.E.F) Committee, on Thursday, held the second event of the week by going on the street to call the attention of the public to the challenges of street begging.
Chieftains of the ISU led over 60 students across various schools on the walk on major streets in Igbogbo to drive the message home, with participants carrying placards with inscriptions condemning street begging, encouraging mass school enrolment and calling on the community to act.

With the street walk themed: “A Walk Against Street Begging”, they marched through the Adeboruwa Palace, Igbogbo and through Oba Molaja Ogunlewe Road, Malok Filling Station, Agarawu Junction, Funsho Solawon Street, and had a stop at the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Secretariat, after which they proceeded through Ojubode, and terminated the walk at the Adeboruwa Palace, Igbogbo.
The ISU President, Comrade Abdulsallam Tijani, said that the community, alongside the Adeboruwa-in-Council, showed overwhelming support, with the Vice Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Nureni Maja, assuring participants that the Council stands firmly behind the cause and will take measures to eradicate the menace before it escalates further.

He also added that the Secretary to the Local Government/LCDA (SLG), who is also the APC Vice Chairman candidate of the APC in the forthcoming LG elections, Barr. Adesanya Ayeni, emphasized the importance of education and urged the Union to continue spreading the message of education among the youth.
The ISU through the C.H.E.F Week committee extended a special appreciation to Barr. Adeleke Aroyewun, State Legal Adviser, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), for sponsoring the initiative and facilitating contact with two NGOs. The body added that the organizations pledged to train and empower individuals willing to leave the streets within weeks.

It also extended appreciation to the Young Achievers’ Club for their generous sponsorship and continued support.
In attendance for the walk were Mr. Henry Ikuesan (a.k.a. Pooker), Executives of the Igbogbo Students’ Union, eminent individuals and invited teachers from the participating schools.
It will be recalled that the ISU C.H.E.F Week 2025 kicked – off on Wednesday with spelling bee and debate competitions among primary, junior and senior secondary schools, held at AOSTEM Centre, Igbogbo.
