Rep. Benson’s Trauma Centre, IDPIL’s Renal At General Hospital, Ikorodu Nearing Completion

The two major medical facilities being facilitated and constructed at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, by Rep. Babajimi Benson, representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency and the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) have progressed tremendously and are nearing completion.

While the Trauma Centre was facilitated by Rep. Benson through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), that of the IDPIL is being sponsored by its Chairman, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, the Odofin of Ikorodu.

The trauma centre whose foundation was laid on October 7, 2024, by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Governor Obafemi Hamzat, is a 40 – bed facility when completed and equipped, would reduce mortality and morbidity rate in Ikorodu Division and the state at large.

The project which is being constructed by Messrs Advance Data Services Limited, Abuja, on completion would be equipped with state – of – the – art medical facilities.

According to the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer, General Hospital, Ikorodu, Dr Taiwo Kamorudeen Hassan, at the flag -off of the centre, 16, 000 out of the over 23, 000 patients that go for treatment in hospitals in Lagos State, are trauma victims. Dr Hassan stated that the importance of the facility cannot be overemphasised.

The IDPIL Project started Tuesday, June 11, 2024, and it has also reached an appreciable level, and when completed according to the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer GH Ikorodu, Dr Taiwo Hassan, it would enable the Ikorodu General Hospital to have an additional department.

The ground floor of the building, which measures about 600square metres, will have a reception and waiting area with capacity to house 25 people; 2 consultant rooms; pharmacy, accounts department; information desk, dialysis centre with capacity for six patients at a time; nurse’s station, call room for nurses, nurse’s lounge with male and female lockers and backroom facilities.

At the back of the building, there will be an equipment storage room and water treatment plant, while the upper floor will have an intensive care unit; two wards with 16 beds, male call room, nurse’s lounge and backroom facilities; open area and two private offices.

The sponsor would also equip this centre with modern medical facilities.
