Residents of Banana Estate, Igbe Laara in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), have appealed to elected and appointed government officials in Ikorodu Division to come to their aid to assist in getting a new transformer to replace the damaged one which has put them in darkness for months,

The residents lamented that they have been in total darkness since September 2024 and all their attempts to fix the transformer proved abortive.

Mr Mellor.O Micheal (Oko OLOYUN INTL) who brought the community’s plight to our reporter’s attention after he (our reporter) shared the story of Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun’s intervention in another community which has been suffering blackout, said that they also attempted to buy a new transformer but it was turned down by the Ikeja Electric.

“I’ll like to bring to our notice that my community/CDA ( BANANA ESTATE, IGBE LARA ) has been SUFFERING from BLACKOUTS since September 2024 due to spoilt transformer.

We intended to fix or buy new one but the Ikeja Electric insists we should not,” he complained on the social media platform.

The residents also said that they have experiencing many criminal acts that were perpetrated under the cover of darkness and further appealed to the government and elected and appointed officials that they have contacted for assistance to come to their aid.

“Many evil atrocities have occurred many times due to blackouts.

“We’ve sent letters to the government without positivity

Personally, I’ve sent messages to some PRESENT POWERFUL SERVING Ikorodu APC stakeholders to help us acquire from the ones to be shared by government some months back, yet to no avail.

We don’t seek for monetary support but we plead with them to help get us back into life through benefiting from democracy dividends.”

The concerned resident pleaded with our reporter to take up their matter adding that they contributed immensely to the electoral victory of the ruling APC.

“I’ll like to know if there’s anything that could be done to bring us to life in our community.

“We contributed our quota by coming out to vote for APC MASSIVELY and now for almost 10 months we are INTENSELY SUFFERING.

“This message is a S.O.S. message from our community. We need HELP,” the resident pleaded.
