AbdulAzeez Yusuf Owolewa Atebo, who is one of the youngest aspirants vying for the Ikorodu Chairmanship position popularly called by admirers and supporters as AYO, was born in the 80s into the esteemed Islamic family of Alhaji Abdulazeez Atebo in Ikorodu, Lagos.

AYO is a professional with a diverse range of skills and interests. He has established himself as a trained administrator, branding expert, and farmer with a strong passion for agriculture and land management. Alongside his professional pursuits, AYO also holds a deep commitment to educational development and religious teachings, aiming to contribute to the creation of a model society.

He declared his intention on the basis of a bold agenda – Education, Security, Agriculture, Tourism, Infrastructural Development and Healthcare which he intends to harness through the deployment of technology, data collection and partnership.

Education:

AYO began his educational journey at Ijomu Muslim Primary School in Ikorodu, followed by Yewa Grammar School, Aga, also in Ikorodu. He then pursued his tertiary education at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, now known as Lagos State University of Education, where he obtained a NCE in Islamic Studies and Political Science. AYO continued his academic pursuit at the Lagos State University, graduating with a degree in Political Science. He also hold a Masters in Business and Human Resources Management at Northumbria University, London, United Kingdom.

Leadership:

AYO’s leadership qualities have been evident since his early years. He held positions of responsibility throughout his education, serving as the Class Captain and School Timekeeper during his primary school years. In secondary school, he continued to excel as the Special Prefect in SS2 and the Amir of his school’s Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in SS3. At Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, AYO was a member of the Student Parliamentary Council and later elected as the President of the National Association of Lagos State Students, AOCOED Chapter. During his undergraduate years at Lagos State University, he served as a member of the Students Union Parliamentary Council (LASUSU SPC), Speaker of the Faculty of Social Science Students Legislative Council, and a member of the LASUSU Independent Electoral Committee.

Professional Career:

AYO embarked on his professional career as an administrative officer in various startups before establishing his own company. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Atecommer Nigeria Limited, a growing conglomerate with interests in Printing, Branding, Agriculture, and Logistics. AYO believes in the diversification of income as a means of wealth distribution and job creation, embodying a liberal professional approach. Additionally, he utilizes his expertise as a political strategist, specializing in developing plans for societal development and election management.

Politics:

In addition to his activism, AYO is an active politician who has made a significant impact at the grassroots level. He aligned himself with the progressive family and was a foundation member of the Babajimi Adegoke National Assembly Campaign in 2015, where he served as the Director of Logistics. AYO went on to work with ICare Foundation as the Director of Admin and Logistics from 2015 to 2019, after which he resigned to focus on his business. He has also played a pivotal role in various political campaigns within Ikorodu and at the state level, including being a member of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group in 2019 and 2023, serving on the Sports Committee of the group.

Personal Ideology:

Abdulazeez Yusuf Owolewa Atebo’s personal ideology is shaped by his values of leadership, educational excellence, and a strong commitment to community service. Throughout his journey, he has demonstrated a straightforward and candid nature, never hesitating to express his honest opinions, regardless of the consequences. This quality of speaking his mind, even when it may go against popular opinion, earned him recognition as ‘The Most Outspoken Honourable’ during his student days. AYO believes in the power of open and honest communication to drive positive change and is dedicated to using his voice to advocate for the betterment of society.
