About a month after the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, directed the council engineer to inspect a manhole at Ojogbe, which has turned into a ‘death’ trap for motorists and other road users, nothing has been done as regards repair or renovation.
THE IMPACT, on February 6, 2024, published on its online platform a story titled, “Constituent Writes Urgent Message To Mr. Wasiu Adesina, The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Over State Of Manholes At Ojogbe, Barracks”.
The above concern was raised by a resident who shared a chat by Mr Gbenga Odegbile, on the Frank Forum, one of the leading WhatsApp platforms in Ikorodu.

Aside the manholes at Ojogbe, the two on Oladunni Street – one at the point where the street connected the Adaraloye Street and the other where the road is connected to police barracks along the Ikorodu -Igbogbo, are also begging for attention.
In a swift reaction the followingday, the Ikorodu LG issued a statement that the council boss has directed the council engineer to inspect the manhole for the purpose of addressing its defect. However, about a month after, the manhole, which has caused several accidents, is yet to be repaired.

Since the council has failed to address the situation, Mr Odegbile has, again, called out the chairman to do the needful.
In a chat wherein he tagged our reporter, the concerned resident again charged Hon. Adeshina to act quickly.
“Good morning. Pls where exactly are we on this? It’s almost 1 month I called out the chairman of Ikorodu Local Govt, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, and over 2 weeks now that the Ikorodu Local Govt engineer, on the instruction of the council head, came to inspect the deathtrap manhole.

“I am sure we don’t have to wait till forever before the needful is done in full and on time. I still pose in confidence for Mr. Wasiu Adesina. He’s a responsive chairman. A stitch in time saves nine,” he said.
