3000 members of Churches and Mosques that were registered with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Ikorodu Division Muslims Community, today, received 5KG bags of rice each as part of the federal government’s palliatives.

The bags of rice, which were distributed on Saturday at the Ikorodu Constituency Office of the Rep. Babajimi Benson Constituency Office, according to the aides of the three term lawmaker, were aimed at supporting both the Muslims and Christians for the ongoing Ramadan and Lent fasting periods.

The beneficiaries, who commended the intervention through their representative, Rep. Babajimi Benson, spread across 160 Churches and Mosques in Ikorodu Division.

Evangelist Folorunsho Falohun, a religious and political leader in Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), who led the Christian delegation from his council, thanked the federal government for the gesture.

He appealed to the people to have trust in the administration of President Bola Tinubu whom said is capable of turning around the economic situation of the country, but needed time.

“We appreciate the gesture from the federal government and as we all know, the country is very tough at the moment and the government doing this through Hon. Babajimi Benson, is highly commendable”, he said.

“I will appeal to our people to exercise patience with our President, Bola Tinubu, on the situation of the country. I can assure them that the country is in a good hand. By the that he would be completing his four-year term, the economy would have been put on the right track”.

Chief Imam of Oke Eletu, Alhaji Soyiga, also speaking with our reporter, commended the lkorodu federal representative for facilitating the food item for members of various religious groups.

“We are not surprise at all,  because Hon. Benson has been doing this. He should continue to toe the path of selfless service and quality representation to his people”, the Chief Imam said.

“With this, a lot of people would benefit because hunger is in the country. This would go a long way’’.

Comrade Lekan Biliaminu Oba, Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), said that the FG, under the administration of President Tinubu, is showing concern for the people at the grassroots by providing ease for the people affected by the economic hardship facing the country.

“This is a social intervention that aligns with humanity. This is a project that is all about showing care and ensuring that no one is still behind. It is also ensuring that people don’t go to bed without anything to eat”, he said.

“If you look at it with what the Lagos State Government is doing, it is about easing the economic hardship on the people. With this, the Federal government is trying to find ways to reach out to the people at the grassroots through Hon. Babajimi Benson.

“It is a welcome development because for the first time, we are seeing a government that is concerned about reaching out to the people at the grassroots. Most times, people at the federal level always find it difficult to touch people at the grassroots”, Comrade Oba said.

He commended the federal lawmaker for being sincere with the palliative from the FG, and not mixing it with his own monthly food interventions.

“It is also commendable that Babajimi Benson is making this project come to light because he has his own monthly food intervention project called ‘Apo Anu’ which is for those in need”, he said.

“This has confirmed that the federal government has social intervention plans for the people. lf Rep. Benosn is doing this, it also means that other members of the House of Representatives are also doing same thing in their various constituencies”.
