Adeboruwa Ramadan Lecture: Islamic Scholar Asks Leaders To Be Considerate Towards People

An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdulrazaq Abdul-Malik has urged leaders not to be too difficult towards those that they are leading and should always be considerate in their relationship with them.

Sheikh Abdul-Malik gave the charge at the Oba Adeboruwa Annual Ramadan Lecture (Tasfir), held at the Adeboruwa palace on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

This year’s lecture was themed, ‘Islam and Governance’

At the event were His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Fadilat Sheikh Abdul-Lai Dikrulahi Andu, (Tanimoshe Afi Allah), Chief Imam of Igbogbo Central Mosque who was the Spiritual Father of the Day, Alhaji Monzor Kolawole Olowoshago, Publisher, Oriwu Sun newspaper and High Chief Tajudeen Duduyemi Alade Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo among other traditional chiefs and guests.

The event also witnessed several recitations from the Holy Q’uran by different lslamic scholars.

In the thougth provoking lecture, Sheikh Abdul-Malik said that while Allah sent other Prophets to preach about Islam in specific nations, only Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) was sent to all nations to preach and govern the people in line with God’s dictates.

He said that anyone that want to lead a country and people, must learn from Prophet Muhammed,(PBUH), as directed by God.

Sheikh Abdul-Malik also stated that God established a system of governance and leadership in the Islamic system where an Imam must possess certain qualities before he could lead.

The guest lecturer, who said that there is great distrust between the government and the people, charged those in leadership positions not to be too difficult and should always be considerate towards those they are leading.

He also said that separation of power is inherent within the Islamic system with the Imam as head, followed by the Muazim who must not go ahead of the Imam during solat observation.

Food and drinks were shared to Muslim faithful that attended the Tasfir, to break their fast.

Kalejaiye, former Chiarman, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, Mr Bashir Fatola, Chief Executive Officer, Café Lounge, Ipakodo, Mr Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, former aspirant for Ikorodu Constituency II seat, Hon. Basirat Banjoko, Councilor, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, and Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, former Council Leader, Ikorodu LG among others.
