Rehabilitation Work On T.O.S. Benson Road, Ebute Roundabout Progresses

The rehabilitation of the collapsed section of the T.O.S. Benson Avenue, is in progress as the construction giant, Arab Contractors, have the commenced the construction of the drainages.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederick Oladeinde, had, last week, said that the state government is rehabilitating what he called “poorly constructed road”, in reaction to a news reports published by THE IMPACT in which residents and motorists lamented the hardship caused by the removal of concrete demarcation of the road which was later removed and caused deterioration of the Ikorodu Ferry/Ebute Roundabout of the road up to the Police Post, Ipakodo.

In an update by the Ministry of Works on Monday, October 31st, 2022, titled: “Progress of Work on Drainage Construction as at Today, Monday 31st October, 2022”, the Ministry said that the contractor would start excavation for the construction of drainage on the other side of the road tomorrow.

“Contractor hope to start excavation for construction of drain on other side of the road tomorrow, Tuesday, 1st November, 2022”, the statement said.

The update, which stated that Arab Contractors will be working at Ebute Roundabout up to Ojediran Street junction, also added that:

“Excavation of entire 310.0m length completed.

“200.0m length of reinforced concrete drain without cover slab completed.

“Additional 60.0m length of blinding with reinforcement in place taking the job to 260.0m length. Casting of drain walls will be completed tomorrow”.

The statement further stated that:

“The road section is closed to motorized traffic except commercial motorcycles.

“Traffic Management Plan (TMP) working well, no hindrance to smooth flow of traffic on all routes.

“Survey works and road excavation works in progress”.

The Ministry also said that there is an adequate Traffic Management Plan (TMP) in place to ensure no hindrance to smooth flow of traffic.
