Jare Babatunde

A concerned resident of Igbogbo has appealed to government to intervene in the blockade of the Demeke/Orepekan Street which has been serving as an alternative to motorists and other road users since the ongoing construction of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way (Agbele Road), started.

The construction, which is being handled by the construction giant, Hi – Tech, has extended to Agarawu/Adeboruwa palace area which necessitated the closure of the Solawon road which is an important link road, especially since the main Awolowo/Igbogbo way has collapsed.

There have also been serious concern by motorists and residents on alternative road aftermath the closure of major roads due to ongoing road constructions.

In a statement sent to THE IMPACT today by Prince Segun Fatola, he stated that Demeke/Orepekan road has been blocked by some residents on the street; a situation he said has caused more hardship for motorists and other road users.

To complicate the situation, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) on Thursday, September 8, 2022, blocked the Awolowo- Igbogbo/Bayeku Road, for the full remodeling of the road.

Fatola who thanked the government for the massive road construction ongoing in Igbogbo and the Adeboruwa and his council for their input, also appealed to them to intervene in the blockade of Demeke Street by some residents to ease movement for motorists.

His statement is reproduced below:
