-Plans underway for permanent solutions – Council Chairman

A resident of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has sent a ‘Save Our Souls’ (SOS) appeal to the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, to save road users from danger posed by the shallow ditch at Geregere along the Oba Omolaja Ogunlewe Road, lgbogbo.

There had been several calls on the council in the past to intervene and make the spot secure for motorists and other road users.

The concerned resident said that the Council Chairman and other Council functionaries should be held accountable if any accident occur due to what he called negligence on their parts.

The Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, under the current administration about three years ago, barricaded both sides of the affected section of the Oba Ogunlewe Road with iron and mesh wire, but was vandalised and carted away, in no time.

Prince Adesegun Fatola, in an open reminder appeal titled, ‘Danger Appeal!! Danger Attention, Danger Attention, Danger Attention’, to the Council Chairman on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, called on Builder Daini to quickly intervene and prevent further accidents at the spot which has constituted major threats to motorists and other road users.

He also copied the Councilor representing Ward C1, where the affected road is situated, Hon. Basirat.

“This is to bring to your notice the hazardous hole worth 15 meters deep along Oba Molaja Ogunlewe Road (Geregere) within the jurisdiction of Hon. Basirat Adetutu Banjoko (Councilor, Ward C1 Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA)”, the statement said.

“Report has it that series of accidents had happened at the aforementioned station which led to hospitalization of patients that sustained critical injuries.

“However, I am pleading to the Council Boss and the entire management team to thoroughly look at the reported station and proactively implement palliative measures to curb any future unpleasant stories.

“Nevertheless, full policy can be made to perfect the substantive plan come 2023, that’s if the council next year budget will capture it”, Prince Fatola suggested.

He stated that the Council Chairman, Ward C1 Council and others should be held responsible should any accident occur at the spot.

“Should in case any accident occurred on this spot @ Amokumosa Bus Stop Geregere, Ojota Igbogbo, these following people should be held responsible for their negligence: Alh Bobomi (APC Chieftain), Hon Daini Olusesan (Chairman IBLCDA), Hon Adewale Bolowotan and Hon Basirat Banjoko (Councillor C1)”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Council Chairman, Builder Daini has said that there are plans by the Council to again attend to the said area and prevent any unfortunate incident.

Builder Daini, who spoke with our reporter on phone today, said that the Council is considering permanent solutions to the spot while also reminding the public that the council has intervened before.

“Well, I can tell you that we have plans on ground to attend to the situation and we are going to do that at the appropriate time”, he said.

“The whole community are aware that the council have intervened before when we barricaded the said spot with barricaded wire and iron but some members of the community cut away the wire and iron.

“We did the intervention then with knowledge of the CDA and other stakeholders and when the community failed to take ownership of a project and allowed it to be vandalised, the cost of it is that fund which we would use for another developmental projects would be used to fix the vandalised one.

“What we are looking at is to have a permanent solution to it. We are looking at concrete barricade which they would not be able to vandalised”, Builder Daini said.
