Muslims Defy Rain To Observe Sallah Prayer In Ikorodu

Hundreds of Muslim faithful in Ikorodu on Saturday, July 9, 2022, defied the early morning rainfall as they trooped out to observe prayer in celebration of Eid – el – Kabir.

Our reporter who went round the town witnessed faithful trooping out to different praying grounds in their respective areas.

Many were seen carrying umbrellas to cover themselves.

It was capacity at the Ikorodu Central Mosque praying ground along Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikorodu, where Alhaji Sefiudeen Ademoritan Olowooribi, the Grand Chief Imam, Ikorodu Division led His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Alhaji Monzor Olowoshago, Publisher, Oriwu Sun newspaper and other faithful in eid prayer.

Hundreds Anwar – ul – Islam members also observed the prayer at the HOMAT Event Centre.

However, faithful were unable to observe eid prayer at the Igbogbo Central Mosque praying ground, HOMAT junction in Igbogbo due to the rainfall.

The prayer led by the Chief Imam, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Alhaji Andu, was observed at the Igbogbo Central Mosque along Odofin Road in Igbogbo.

At the Mosque was His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, traditional Chiefs and eminent individuals.

Also, Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), former aspirant, Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly and Mr Idris Adeshina (Adido) also joined the Adeboruwa for the eid prayer.

Chieftains and members of Oriwu Central Mosque and As Samadani Islamic family were also unable to observe the eid prayer at the traditional eid ground at Shamsideen in Ikorodu.

His Eminence, Sheikh Yahya Olorunoshebi Oshoala Ajagbemokeferi, Ameer ul Muhminina As – Samadani and Chief Imam, Oriwu Central Mosque, Ikorodu who led the prayer in his sermon rendered gratitude to the Creator for the privilege granted beings to know and worship Him at this trying times.

He eulogised Allah who he said that no being can comprehend his ways and acts.

Sheikh Oshoala called on Muslims celebrating Eid – El – Kabir today to reflect on the teachings and actions of Prophet Ibrahim as well as his son willing yielding to the commandment of Allah.

His Eminence, Sheikh Yahya Olorunoshebi Oshoala Ajagbemokeferi, Ameer ul Muhminina As – Samadani and Chief Imam, Oriwu Central Mosque, Ikorodu leading the congregation at the Sallah Eid prayer on Saturday.

“The World today is characterised with turmoil, chaos and killings; war, terrorism, banditry, gun men and countless others, in the face of all these”, Sheikh Oshoala said.

He admonished Muslims to see these challenges as trials, and preached utmost patience, reliance on Allah believing who he said is the only one that can change people’s fortunes.

“This challenging time is temporary, and requires us to return to Allah for all our yearnings, seek forgiveness and his face as well as guidance in governance”, he said.

Imam Oshola also charged faithful and entire residents of Ikorodu to collect their PVC and exercise their voting right to elect good leaders.
