The Majority Leaders in the 36 Houses of Assemblies in Nigeria have condemned in strong terms, the gruesome killing of many armless and innocent Nigerian worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State on Sunday by suspected terrorists.

It was gathered that no fewer than 40 worshippers, mostly children and women were feared killed as a result of the terror attack.

In a release issued and signed by the Chairman, Nigerian Majority Leaders’ Forum (NMLF), Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade, the Forum said it is deeply pained by the gruesome murder of the innocent Nigerians who were praising their God in the sanctuary.

The statement read that the Sunday attack is yet another sad commentary on the abysmal failure of the security agencies to decisively confront terrorists in their organized attacks on Nigerians; a situation that has emboldened these evil doers to continue to levy war on our nation and murder our citizens without restrain.

The Forum urged the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies in the country to review its strategies and adopt more proactive measures to tackle terrorism and curb the worsening insecurity in Nigeria.

“This is an attack on the nation. Every Nigerian must stand up and condemn the dastardly acts of these criminals”.

The Forum emphasized that it stands with the government and people of Ondo State at this moment of national grief.

“We pray along with you. We sympathize with you on the untimely death of the innocent victims. The good Lord will comfort and the families of those affected by this unfortunate incident”.
