Ikorodu Holds ‘Oro Magbo’ Festival Today

His Royal majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu.

The annual ‘Oro Magbo’ festival holds in Ikorodu today, Thursday, May 19, 2022.

As tradition reqiures, women’s movement is restricted to their homes.

The festival, which is an ancient traditional activity, is used by the Ikorodu Kingdom to appease gods, cleanse the town and pray for good happenings.

Magbo is one of the major festivals that Ijomu, one of the three major quarters in Ikorodu, is known for.

During the period of the celebration, only men are permitted to come out while women within the Ikorodu township will stay indoor till the next day.

Also, visitors to the ancient town are also warned to keep off key areas where the festival is being held.
