Fun, Glamour As Grace Skies School Holds Bi – Annual Sports Festival In Ikorodu

Captain of the Blue (Hon. Fathiu Salisu’s House) House middle lifting the gold cup presented to his House as the winner of the Grace Skies School’s Bi – Annual Inter – House Sports 2022 held at the Ita – Elewa Youth Sports Complex, Ikorodu on Friday. With him are, Captains of Orange House (Hon. Dr Abike Dabiri – Erewa, Chairman, NID-COM’s house) and Green House (Alhaji H.A Alimi’s House), also lifting their silver and bronze cups as second and third.

The Grace Skies School has held its Bi – Annual Inter – House Sports 2022 which was very colourful and filled with fun and excitement as several dignitaries and parents graced the occasion.

At the sporting event, which held at the newly commissioned Ita – Elewa Youths Sports Centre, Ikorodu, on Friday, April 1, 2022, students and pupils of the school located within the highbrow Elepe Estate, Gbasemo, Ikorodu, had a great fun –filled, fulfilling and enjoyable moment as they engaged in various interesting sporting activities.

Parents and guests at the ceremony, which included His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and the royal father of the occasion who was represented by some of his chiefs , and Director – General, Lagos State Sports Commission who Chaired  the occasion, Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

At the end of stiff competition among the houses, Blue House which has the former Chairman, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) as its Patron, won 7 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze to emerge the champions of this year’s sports festival.

In the second place was Orange House (Hon. Dr Abike Dabiri – Erewa, Chairman, NID-COM’s house) with 6 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze, while Green House (Alhaji H.A Alimi’s House) was third on the medal table with 5 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze.

Yellow House (School House) won 5 gold, 5 silvers and 5 bronze medals to emerge in the fourth position.

Sporting events that students and pupils of the Grace Skies School, participated in were March Past, 50metre (boys and girls), Bursting the Balloon (Primary boys and girls), Daddy’’s Shies (Nursery), Early to School (Kindergarten boys and girls) and Filling the Bottle with Water (Primary).

Other events that took place at the event were Filing the Basket (Kindergarten biys and girls), 4 x 100 (relay boys and girls, Tug of War, Parent Race (Male and Female) and Staff Race (Male amd Female).

Alhaja Abiodun Ogunniyi, the former Principal of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, and the Proprietor of Grace Skies School, thanked all the dignitaries and invited guests for supporting her school after her retirement.

Mrs Christianna Lee, Mother of the Day, Prince Yomi Shopitan, Executive Assistant to Governor of Lagos State on Maritime Matters, Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, Director – General, Lagos State Sports Commission and other dignitaries at the Grace Skies School’s Bi – Annual Inter – House Sports 2022 held at the Ita – Elewa Youth Sports Complex, Ikorodu on Friday.

She pledged to continually give children in her school quality education and also ensure that they grasp fully with social and cultural aspects of education.

The Proprietor, who won the Presidential Award for the Best School Administrator while she was the Principal, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, said that the sporting event is necessary to detect talents inherent  in the students and also make them physically fit.
