D’Bard Creative Partners LASUSTECH Troupe Against Drug Abuse, Cultism

D’Bard Creative Media, a creative hub, in partnership with D’Theatrepreneurs of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) (former Lagos State Polytechnic) and the Mass Communication Department Students Association, has staged an adaptation drama of Romeo and Juliet in commemoration of the Valentine’s Day celebration.

The stage performance, which was tagged, “The Love Concert” and featured musical performance and comedy, took place at the 700 – Seater Auditorium, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, on Monday, February 14, 2022.

Gracing the event, which was well – attended by students and other guests, was the renowned Nollywood actress, Sola Kosoko.

While commending the performance, Kosoko also applauded the organiser of the event, organisers and cast for putting up an amazing performance.

Mr Waliu Adeyeri, the lead creative at D’Bard Creative Media, speaking on the objective of the program, said:

 “The objective of the project is to resuscitate the essence of genuine love in our society”, he said.

“The absence of love for oneself is the root cause of intake of illicit drugs that hurts the body, while the absence of love for another person is the root cause of killings and cultism. This performance is aimed at propagating the essence of love”.

He described the turnout as massive.

“The love was huge; the crowd was overwhelming and the turnout was massive”, he said.

“These are the three simple expressions that best express the adaptation of Romeo and Juliet held in commemoration of Valentine’s Day.

“Special Appreciation to the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the transformed Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye”, the producer said.

“Special appreciation to the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Dr. Biyi Oyetade, and the cast and crew of D’Theatrepreneurs under the auspices of the Artistic Director, Mr. Ibrahim A. Nurudeen”, said the producer.

Guests and students entering the hall to watch the adaption of Romeo and Juliet staged at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology in commemoration of the Valentine;s Day.

“I also appreciate the Mass Communication Department Students Association (Day Special) for coming through for the project.

“I cannot but appreciate my lead support, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, the Managing Director of AYG Luxury Auto Place, Mr. Yusuf Adeniye; Fanafillit Integrated Concepts, and The Impact Newspaper”.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye was presented with the “Youth Motivator” award for his support towards the success of the event.

The troupe was also awarded by D’Bard Creative Media for successfully interpreting the piece.
