Oriwu College Maintains Lead, Emerges 2021 Best School In Ikorodu

-Lagos State Civil Service Model, Igbogbo Principal, Teacher, others get Excellence Awards

It was another moment of celebration for the premier college in Ikorodu Division, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, as the school, again, emerged as the best school in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

The Principal of the school, who, on behalf  of the school, received the Presidential Award for  the Best Public School in Nigeria in 2020, was joined by current students and former students of the school in the hall to receive the Excellence Award from the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG).

 Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa, the Chairman, IDRDG, former Head of Service, Lagos State and former Chairman, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Sir. David Sunmoni, the Pro – Chancellor/Chairman, Governing Council, Lagos State University and former Accountant – General, Lagos State and Prof. Adeniyi Agunbiade, Chancellor, McPherson University, Ogun State, and the guest lecturer at the event, were some of the former students that joined the school team in receiving the award.

The feat was announced at the 20th Memorial Lecture in honour of Prof. A.A. Adegbola, themed, ‘All Flesh Is Grass: The Dimension of Non – Ruminant Feeding & Nutrition’, which took place at the main auditorium of the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Oriwu College is also the Best Senior Secondary in Education District II 2021, and recipient of the Best Teacher, Best HoD, Best Non – Teaching Staff at  the 2021 Education District II Merit Award ceremony.

 Also at the event, the Principal of the Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Igbogbo, Mrs Bolanle Morounkola Esho was also presented with an Excellence Award as the Best Principal In Ikorodu Division 2021.

Mrs Esho, who is the second Best Principal in Education District II, is a Member of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS).

The Excellence Award for the Best Teacher in the Division was bestowed on Mr Odenike Rasheed Abolanle, the Registrar and Head of Department, Humanities, Lagos State Civil Service Senior Model College, Igbogbo.

With them, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo (4th left), High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Odofin of Ikorodu (3rd right) and other dignitaries and students.

Odenike is the current recipient of the Best Teacher, Public Senior secondary Schools in Nigeria.

 He was the Best Teacher, Senior Secondary School Secondary Schools Category (Lagos State) 2020.

The Excellence Award for the Best Student in 2020 WASSCE in Ikorodu Division was presented to Master Sofile Charles Olamide, a former student of the Lagos State Model Senior College, Igbokuta.

He scored B2 in English Language, A1 in Mathematics, B2 in Biology, A1 in Chemistry, B2 in Physics, A1 in Further Mathematics, A1 in Geography, A1 in Civic Education and C5 in Data Processing.
