Imota Deputy Leader Killed By Suspected Cultists

Late Hon. Tope Ishola, the Deputy Leader, Imota Local Council Development Area murdered by suspected cultists.

Few weeks after the gruesome murder of the Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Imota Local Counci Development Area (LCDA) by suspected cultists, the Council has been thrown into yet another mourning as the Deputy Leader of the Council’s Legislative Arm, Hon. Tope Ishola, has been murdered.

THE IMPACT gathered that the first term Councilor, who was seeking re – election, was killed by suspected cultists in his home in Imota on Tuesday evening.

The late Deputy Leader had appeared before the Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after submitting his nomination form for the forthcoming election Local Government election.

It was gathered that his assailants shot him severally and after he was confirmed dead, they cut one of his hands and went away with it.

While some people are saying the lawmaker’s murder has political undertone, others that spoke with THE IMPACT said that it’s cult– related killing.

In another report gathered by our reporter, the dastardly killing is being said to be a reprisal attack by a cult group that the former Chief of Staff to the Chairman belong to.

It was alleged that the late Deputy Leader’s brother, Alaye (not real name) who is now at large led his cult group to kill the former aide to the Chairman.

We also gathered that late Tope Ishola does not belong to any of the cult groups, but alleged that he may have an hand in the killing of late Chief of Staff.

On the other hand, some are saying that late Tope knew nothing about the death of the former Chief of Staff and that he was murdered for daring to seek re – election against a particular candidate.

As at the time of publishing this report, Councilors across Ikorodu Division are gathered in Imota to console his father and also to arrange his burial.

Some of the councillors that who spoke with our reporter on the phone said that the situation is getting out of hand in Imota and called for urgent action to halt the unfortunate situation.

Speaking with the Imota Council Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, he described the development as worrisome and added that they are doing everything to stem the killings.

He said that he has visited the family of the late Councilor to console them.
