The need to protect lives and properties of residents of Isawo and environs in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and establish Police presence has led to the decision of the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, to approve the establishment of a Police Post in the area.

According to the CP, the Police Station at Owutu is too far away from Isawo and its environs, hence, the need for one to situated closer to the residents of that axis.

CP Odumosu gave the approval for the establishment of the Police Post when he visited Isawo to broker peace between the Yoruba and Hausa communities on yesterday (Friday).

THE IMPACT gathered that youths from the two communities have engage themselves in violent attacks since Monday, October 5,2020, with many of them badly injured while properties were also destroyed.

“This place is far from Owutu and there is need to have one (Police Station) here”, the CP said during the town hall meeting in Isawo.

“There is a need for this here and I will discuss with the LCDA Chairman and l will equally discuss with the Governor on the need for a Police Post here.

“But you have a place that could be used as a Police Post temporarily, I will deploy police officers immediately pending the time that we will have a standard one”, he assured Ikorodu West LCDA Chairman and residents.

“This place is too far and I will discuss with the Governor on the need to have one Police Post here so that we can bring Police closer to you.

“With my coming here today, I have been able to see that there is need for this and as I have promised, I am going to do that so that your lives will be safer”, he said.

“I will also ensure that you receive contact numbers of Police Stations and Control Units, so that whenever there is any emergency, you can quickly reach us. I will get the leaflets across to you as soon as possible through the DPO.

“Anywhere that you are and there is a problem, you will know who to call even if the DPO is not on ground, because communication matters when resolving issues.

“The communities should put their acts together to decide where to site the Police Post and there is no way that I will not work with the Council Chairman in deciding the location of the station before presenting it to the Governor”.
