CONVID-19: LASG Issues Guidelines To Boat Operators

In furtherance of its efforts to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, Lagos State Government on Monday issued guidelines to all stakeholders in water transportation.

In a statement sent to THE IMPACT by Mr Olalekan Biliamin, the Special Adviser on Media to the Commissioner for Transportation, six guidelines were issued.

According to the statement, boat operators must ensure that their boats are sanitized and life jackets provided for passengers.

“All Boat Operators are expected to thoroughly sanitize their boats and all life jackets before embarking on each trip”

“All Boat Operators are expected to have hand sanitizers for the use of their passengers before loading at the jetties or terminals”

“All Boat captains and Deckhands are expected to use hand gloves and nose guards while embarking on a trip”

“All ferry passengers are also advised to use nose guards and possibly hand gloves to avoid surface contact

The guidelines also enjoin all terminal and jetty to have temperature monitor to test passenger’s before boarding.

“All Terminal and jetty operators must have temperature monitor to test each passenger before entering the terminal while hand sanitizers must be available for passengers use”

“All passengers are also required to sanitize themselves and wash their hands with soap and water before and after each trip”

All LASWA water guards at every jetty are directed to ensure full compliance of the safety guidelines.
