Ikorodu LG, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Elect CDC Executives

In other to meet up with the December 20 deadline for the submission of name of the officers of their respective Community Development Committees (CDCs) , Ikorodu Local Government and Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have conducted elections into various offices of their central development bodies.

The elections were successful and recorded impressive turnout of residents in both councils.

The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Local Government & Community Affairs (MLGCA), had directed that elections into Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs) should be held between 11th – 17th December and 18th – 20th December, 2019, respectively.

 About 224 CDAs conducted elections into various offices in Ikorodu LG last weekend, while about 130 CDAs did same in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA in the last one week.

The lkorodu Local Govt CDC elections were conducted on Thursday, December 19, at the Local Government Secretariat hall in Ikorodu.

At the end of the elections, Alhaji Lukman Sonibare was re-elected as the Chairman of the CDC in Ikorodu Local Government.

THE IMPACT gathered that Alhaji Sonibare has been offered the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC) before the election and only needed to be returned in Ikorodu Local  government CDC’s elections to claim the mandate and with his re-election, the coast seems cleared.

Other newly elected officers of CDC in Ikorodu local government Mr Olushile O (1ST Vice Chairman), Mr Ahmed Durosimi Etti (2nd Vice Chairman), Elder Ogunjimi Y.I, (General Secretary), Mrs Saka Radhidat (Treasurer), Mr Quadri A, (Welfare Secretary) and Pastor Abidoye (Financial Secretary) among others.

The executive chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, and other council officials witnessed the elections while Mrs. Bola Giwa from Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs served as the Returning Officer.

In the same vein, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA CDC, on Friday, December 20, held its own election to elect their new officers.

Pastor Abayomi Adelakun, who is from  Ayegbami CDA, and the Financial Secretary in the immediate past CDC executives, emerged as the new Chairman unopposed.

Otunba Adebiyi Ahmed and Prince Emiloju Ilara emerged as the 1st and 2nd Vice Chairmen respectively.

Mr Femi Oguntuyi from Ifesowapo CDA in Igbogbo won the election for the position of the General Secretary which was the only contested position in the election. He defeated Mr Moses Oke of Heaven CDA with 210 votes to 8 votes.

Other elected officers are Elder Towolawi Olaide (Treasurer), Mr Olumide Ayanju (Asst. Secretary), Prince Charles Adedei (PRO), Mr Aremu Fatai (Financial Secretary), Mr Oluwatosin Onasanya (Auditor), Adeshina Samuel (Social Secretary) and Adepoju (Welfare).

The immediate past chairman, Elder N.A. Olowu and the duo of Mr B.A Ogunlana and Pastor (Mrs) Akoja will join the newly constituted executive council as Ex-Officios.

While giving the account of stewardship of his administration, Elder Olowu stated that Igbogbo/Bayeku CDC contributed to the establishment of MOPOL 61 and NIPP project in Igbogbo.

He also listed free medical screening, vocational empowerment and facilitation of national ID Card among others as part of the achievements of his administration.

Meanwhile, Pastor Abayomi Adelakun, the new chairman, in his acceptance speech, thanked the chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeiku LCDA and his cabinet as well as councilors and other council officials for their supports for the CDC.

While acknowledging the role played by the immediate past CDC executives, he singled out the late chairman of the CDC, Mr Akewudowo, for his commitment and efforts in moving the body forward.

He pledged to work with the council, his executive team and all stakeholders in developing Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

Mrs Bola Giwa from the Ministry of Local Government & Community Affairs and her team  supervised the elections.

In attendance at the elections were Hon. Gboyega Titilola, Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Olowu, Majority Leader, Igbogbo/Bayeku Legislative Arm, Hon. Arowolo, Councilor representing Owode/Ibeshe, Mr Yahya Ogunsowo, Supervisor for Budget, Hon. Iyabo Salisu, Supervisor for Agriculture, Mr Yahya Kamoru, Supervisor for Education and Mr Jelili Ogunmuyiwa, Supervisor for Sports, among others.
