IKODASS Gives N1m Worth Of Scholarship To 40 Indigent Students

The Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) has demonstrated its commitment to continue to support the education of indigent students with the presentation of 1, 000, 000, naira worth of bursary awards to 40 indigent students in Primary and Secondary Schools in Ikorodu Kingdom.

The lucky beneficiaries of the exemplary gesture were presented with the bursary monies at the grand finale of the 28th Ikorodu-Oga Day Carnival held at the Ayangbure palace on Saturday,November 16,2019.

The IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, while presenting the bursary recipients to the guests and residents at the memorable event, explained  that it is part of the association’s mandate to provide support for the less privilege to enhance their educational development.

“In fulfilment of our mandate and objectives, we cannot fold our hands and do nothing to assist the less privilege in our society, particularly the indigent pupils and students in our primary and secondary schools”, he stated.

“Consequently, a sum of N1, 000, 000 .00 (one million naira) will be shared among 40 indigent students from both the primary and secondary schools within Ikorodu Kingdom” , Otunba Abiru announced.

“The amount to be given individually may not be much but it shows our commitment and desire to be part of the success story of those students who may be disturbed in their educational journey due to lack of funds.”

He, however, appealed to privileged individuals in the society to assist IKODASS in this gesture or adopt at least a student who is financially incapacitated but willing to go to school to enable him or her achieve his or her dream.

“We would have loved to do more than this number, but this is what our capacity can bear this year. I want to use this medium to appeal to every elite here today to compassionately adopt the sponsorship of a student, be it in primary, secondary or tertiary institution”, Abiru appealed.
