In its effort to ensure that those that registered are not disenfranchised, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Ikorodu, last Wednesday, released list of areas where members of the public who are yet to pick up their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCs) can do so.

The electoral body had on Sunday, January 13, 2019, announced that about one million unclaimed PVCs would be moved to 245 wards across the state.

THE IMPACT gathered that the Electoral Officer in Ikorodu met with party chairmen at the Ikorodu Government Reserved Area (GRA) Office of INEC where he released list of centres across the wards in Ikorodu division where residents can pick up their PVCs.

We also gathered that the PVCs would be available for collection between Wednesday, January 16 and Monday, January 21, 2019.

A source at the meeting told THE IMPACT that the Electoral Officer stated that the exercise is meant to make collection of PVCs easier for Lagosians.

He also stated that the exercise, which would come to an end on Jan. 21, would include Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday”.

According to INEC State PRO in a release on Sunday, after Jan. 21, the collection would be reverted to the INEC’s office at Ikorodu GRA and other designated centres in the state.

He added that distribution of the PVCs at the local government level would be sustained until Feb. 8 which is the last day for the collection of voter’s cards for 2019 general elections.

Our reporter, who went round the designated centres, reported that the exercise was held at the United High School, Ikorodu, Anglican Primary School, Ikorodu, Methodist Primary School, Ibeshe Town, Ibeshe and Methodist Primary School, Oba Omolaja Ogunlewe Way, Igbogbo centres.

The exercise, we also gathered, was held at the Odogunyan Town hall, Odogunyan in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area.
