Three-time African woman footballer of the year Asisat Lamina Oshoala wants to take her dominance beyond the African continent and become the first African woman to win the prestigious FIFA best player of the year and ensuring Nigeria goes beyond the World Cup group stages in France 2019.

The former Arsenal striker, who spoke to AOIFootball.com shortly after her arrival from Accra where she was crowned Queen of the continent for the third time, said she is now more determined to do more for her club, especially qualifying Nigeria for the 2019 female world cup.

“Last year was a crazy year for me; crazy in the sense that many criticised my decision to move to the Chinese league, but I enjoyed some of my best football and I finished as the best striker in the league and also won the league and cup.

“The only sad moment was not able to play for my country in 2017, but I am determined to make sure we qualify for the nations’ cup in Ghana and defend our trophy like we did in Cameroon two years ago,” Oshoala said.

The Dalian Quainjin attacker however posited that she has her sights set on beating Perpetual Nkwocha as the player with the most African player crown while insisting the 2019 world best player is her main target.

“It will be a good one to win another award next year, but my target is to make history and rule the world in 2019,” Oshoala concluded.

It would be recalled that Osohala is the only African to win the prestigious BBC women’s player of the year award and the only African to also win the Golden Ball at any FIFA organised women’s competition, a feat she achieved in Canada 2015.
