The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Kwenú 93.9 FM and former General Manager of Lagos Television (LTV), Mr Lekan Ogunbanwo, come Friday, October 9, 2026, will deliver the 40th Imota Ayayo Day Celebration, with focus on youth empowerment, responsible media, democracy and national security as stakeholders seek practical ways of building a safer and more prosperous society.
The lecture themed, “Youth Empowerment, Responsible Media, Democracy and National Security: Building a Safer and More Inclusive Future”, will hold at the Caleb University Multipurpose Hall, Imota, Lagos State, at 11:00am, with Hon. Sunday Ayodele Benson, Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, as the host, while the traditional ruler of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, FCA, ACTI, AMNIM, Olufoworesete II, Ranodu of Imota, will serve as Chief Host.

The annual lecture is organized by Dr. Metilelu Olumide Olusola, the Commissioner representing Ikorodu Division in the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) led committee under the auspices of the Imota Ayayo Day Planning Committee.
The guest lecturer, Mr. Ogunbanwo, who was also a retired Permanent Secretary, is a veteran broadcaster and media administrator with decades of experience in Nigeria’s broadcasting industry. He began his broadcasting career with Radio Lagos and subsequently served as General Manager of Radio Lagos/Eko FM before rising to the position of Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Broadcasting Service.

The lecture is expected to examine the relationship between young people, the media, democracy and national security in building a safer and more inclusive society.
The 40th Imota Ayayo Day Celebration, with the broader theme, “Celebrating Our Heritage, Shaping Our Future,” kicked –off on Friday, 2nd October, 2026, with a Special Jumat Service at the Imota Central Mosque. There had been Youth Day and Final Novelty Match; Special Church Service at the Anglican Church, Imota; Ram Contest (Powered by Ram Contest Association of Nigeria, Imota Chapter) and Medical outreach and Exhibition at Imota Mini Stadium.
Ayayo-Shine Carnival, which held at different quarters of Imota abd Imota Mini Stadium which was the convergence point, took place on Tuesday, 6th October, 2026.

Other events scheduled for the celebration are Cultural Display, Artisans Competition, and Family Awards slated for 10pm at Imota Mini Stadium on Wednesday, and lya Oloja and Baba Oloja Day which will also hold at the Imota Mini Stadium on Thursday. In addition, Miss Imota Beauty Contest will hold at the Admos Hotel and Suites on Thursday.
After the Annual Lecture on Friday, there will be Special Eberipo Night at the Imota Mini Stadium with the Grand Finale that will feature Hall of Fame and Excellence Awards, Royal Parade and Live Performance by Alhaji Alabi Pasuma, is scheduled for Saturday, 10th October, 2026.
