A Commissioner I in the Lagos State Health Service Commission Board, Dr. Segun Ogboye, has commended the General Hospital Ikorodu as a high performing and demanding medical institution.
Dr. Ogboye who was on a courtesy visit to the hospital during the week, also commended the leadership of the GH Ikorodu, for its dedication and vision. He was warmly received by the Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, alongside members of the Hospital Management Committee.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ogboye commended Dr. Taiwo Hassan for his passion, dedication, and the energy invested in leading the hospital.
The Commissioner acknowledged the hospital as a high-performing and highly demanding institution, particularly given the rapid growth of the area and the increasing population it serves.
He expressed support for exploring innovative approaches to addressing the challenges.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Hassan briefed the visiting Commissioner on the hospital’s achievements, growth, operational realities, and key areas requiring further support.
He highlighted the hospital’s remarkable growth in recent times despite the challenges encountered day to day.
“Since 2020, the hospital has received more than 15 awards, including repeated recognition for service excellence, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, and overall healthcare performance.”
He further noted significant improvements in patient satisfaction, infrastructures, clinical governance, infection prevention and control, quality improvement, electronic medical records, and health insurance in enrolment.
Dr Hassan listed ICU and Renal Centre, which is nearing completion, as well as a 80-bed Trauma Centre as major developments to increase the hospital’s capacity.
“These developments are expected to strengthen significantly the hospital’s capacity to respond to the growing healthcare needs of residents.”
While appreciating Dr. Ogboye for the visit and for his commitment to understanding the realities on the ground, Dr Hassan, urges continued collaboration and support to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve patient health outcomes.
He also expressed appreciation to the Hospital Management Committee and the entire staff for their commitment, teamwork, and support, emphasising that the hospital’s achievements are the result of collective efforts.
