The Parliamentary Council of the National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS), held its inaugural sitting on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, under the leadership of the Distinguished Senator Abdulateef Opeyemi Balogun, the Senate President of the NAIDS 7th Parliamentary Council.
A total of 13 Senators out of the 18 elected into the 7th Parliamentary Council, attended the inaugural meeting held at the Oba (Dr.) Johnson Fatola Pavilion, Igbogbo.
The NAIDS National Parliamentary Council held its 1st Inaugural Sitting on Saturday, 18th July, 2026 at the Oba (Dr.) Johnson Fatola Pavilion, Igbogbo.

Senator Balogun welcoming other distinguished Senators to the first sitting, emphasised the importance of unity among the Parliamentarians over division.
He urged Distinguished Senators to rise above personal differences, personal interests, and external influences.
“Division weakens us; unity strengthens us. Let us reframe our understanding of the Parliament. We are not constituted to antagonise or disrupt the Executive Council. Rather, we are a constitutional force established to ensure responsibility, accountability, and productivity within the Executive, while we diligently discharge our own legislative duties,” he said.

The Senate President also expressed appreciation to all Senators for beginning the legislative session with great commitment, energy, and sense of purpose.
During the sitting five Standing House Committees – Information, Strategy and Special Duties headed by Senator Abdul Qayyum; Petition and Disciplinary Issues, chaired by Senator Amusa Hameedah; Sports, Social, Transport and Public Matters, chaired by Senator Atebo Mubarak; Business and Services chaired by Senator Shakirat and Standing Order and Bill headed by Senator Benson, were inaugurated to drive the parliament forward.
The House adjourned with a resolve to work in unity, and in service to NAIDS National.
