GOA Equips 15 Female Teachers In Ikorodu LGEA With Basketball Training

15 female teachers from Ikorodu at the One-Day Basketball Clinic at the Avicenna International School, GRA, Ikeja, on Sunday.

In an attempt to get pupils engaged in playing basketball at early age, the Giants of Africa (GOA) has engaged 15 female teachers from public schools across the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu Local Government, in a One-Day Basketball Clinic.

The clinic was held at the Avicenna International School, GRA, Ikeja, on Sunday.

According to the Education Secretary, LGEA, Ikorodu LG, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, the clinic focused on equipping teachers with the fundamentals of basketball, empowering them to introduce the sport to pupils at an early age, and inspire the next generation of athletes.

He added that the initiative highlights GOA’s commitment to grassroots sports development and the role of educators in nurturing talent from the classroom to the court.

“We celebrate the dedication of these teachers who are now better positioned to catch pupils young and instill in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and resilience through basketball”, the Education Secretary added.

Beneficiaries of the GOA training include: Abimbola Oluwaranti Yetunde, Oshikumaya Bisola Monsurat, Shittu Mariam Temitope, Ajayi Damilola Muslimot, Sulaimon Rashidat Adeleke, and Sulaimon Rukayat Afolake and Sanni Rashidat Olamide.

Others are Balogun Shakirat Gbemisola, Ajayi Blessing Aina, Daodu Morenikeji Olasewo, Omonayin Dorcas Oladiwura, Solomon Esther Oluwafolakemi, Ezemba Francisca Ifeoma, Francis Ngozi Liveth and Ajibade Iyabode Racheal.
