500 residents of Ward A, Ipakodo in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, on Saturday receive food support from the leader of the council’s Legislative Council, Hon. Jessica Enitan Oba, as she launched a food support initiative.
The initiative tagged, “Love Ipakodo Food Initiative” was held at the LG Primary School, Ipakodo.
The food bag containing rice, beans, garri, salt, spaghetti among others were distributed to members of APC, widows, the aged, youth groups, and CDAs,
Hon. Jessica Enitan Oba, the Council Leader, Ikorodu West LCDA speaking, thanked residents of Ipakodo for their overwhelming support for her during the last local government elections and for supporting her progressive party.
She said that their support has encouraged her to give back.
Hon. Oba, who is representing the people of Ipakodo at the legislative council also lauded the support of the council chairman, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju in making her initiative come to fruition.
“I really appreciate you for the support that you always give to us, especially at the legislative arm. You always encourage us to thrive, do better and follow good steps that you are taking. May God bless you, sir. Thank you so much.”
Explaining her reason for inviting party leaders and constituents, Hon. Oba said that it was to introduce the “Love Ipakodo Food Initiative”, which she said is part of her representative programmes for her people, others which she has been executing are “Clean Water Initiative” and also “Clinical Initiative” that is also coming up.
“This is one of our initiatives through which we channel the dividends of democracy to our constituents. Through this, we are saying thank you to the people of Ipakodo, both old and new members of APC and other residents,” she said.
Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman, commended his councilors for delivering good governance and representation to his people’
“I am happy that my Honourable Councilors are doing wonders. We are here in Ward A for this but the Ward C Councilor has also done the same thing and others too will follow suit.
“Let us be appreciative of the Councillors for offering us these and also myself, the Chairman of the LCDA under whose administration they are doing all these.
“It is because I have given them an enabling environment and I want to thank my Councillors for having the heart of giving and also deeming it fit to give back to their constituents, “ he said.
He stated further:
“It takes a lot of sacrifices from my councillors to give and likewise myself. I am giving them an enabling environment because I want them to grow and impact and I am happy that they are doing their bits.”
The APC candidate for the Ikorodu Constituency I, Lagos State House of Assembly for the next General Elections, Prince Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, commended Hon. Jessica Oba for deeming it fit to give out to the people whom they usually called out to support them and vote. He also thanked the council chairman for creating an enabling environment for the councillors to thrive.
He pledged his support for the initiative in subsequent editions.
Bolowotan also thanked residents and members of APC in Ikorodu West LCDA for their support during the primary elections last Wednesday.
Also speaking, Hon. Jide Banjoko, former Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Segun Aluko, Vice Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Batife, a Councillor, and others commended the initiative.
