55, 148 APC Members In Ikorodu Division Affirm Dr Obafemi Hamzat As Governorship Candidate

‎55, 148 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division have affirmed the candidacy of Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

‎Dr. Hamzat who was the sole aspirant in the race for the governorship position was affirmed across the 19 political wards in Ikorodu on Thursday.

‎The Returning Officer for Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Sunny Adeeko, announced the results of the APC affirmation primary at the party’s secretariat in Ikorodu at 3:54pm after the collation of all the results from the 19 wards.

‎Dr Hamzat scored 55, 148 votes from the affirmation of members of the ruling party in Ikorodu Division.

‎Results collated across the 19 Wards revealed that Dr. Hamzat garnered 3479 (Ward A1), 849 (Ward A2), 2115 (Ward A3), 2406 (Ward A4),4321 (Ward A5), 3251 (Ward B1), 3871 (Ward B2), 1801 (Ward B3), 2653 (Ward C1), 3275 (Ward C2), 1651 (Ward C3), 1802 (Ward C4), 3467 (Ward D1), 6692 (Ward D2), 1972 (Ward D3), 5481 (Ward E1), 2102 (E2), 2051 (Ward E3), and 2801 (Ward E4).

‎Sen Tokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, who affirmed the Deputy Governor at Ward A4, APC Secretariat, Ikorodu, with other party leaders and members, described the process as transparent, fair and an acceptance of the candidate by the people.

‎“First of all, I think the process has been very transparent and fair. It is also a strong attestation to the acceptance of our candidate, His Excellency, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat. He came into this contest unopposed, and the turnout of people here today is a clear affirmation that he is widely accepted within the party.

‎”It shows that he has the full support of the party, and overall, the process has been fair and peaceful,” the Senator said.

‎Former Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde also speaking with THE IMPACT, described the process of Dr. Hamzat’s affirmation as peaceful.

‎”The process has been very peaceful. You can see that people have come out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibilities.

‎”I think we are united as a party, and everyone is happy with the candidates. You can also see that people have come out to ensure that Dr. Hamzat emerges as our candidate for Lagos State.”
