Rep. Babajimi Benson

Ikorodu’s Native Democratic Initiative for Genuine Empowerment and National Equity (INDIGENE) has expressed profound appreciation to all APC card-carrying members in the Ìkòródú Federal Constituency for their overwhelming support and decisive votes for Hon. Babajimi Benson during the party’s primary election held on Saturday, 16 May 2026.

‎In a statement signed by its Co-Convener and Secretary, Mr Adeleke Aroyewin, INDIGENE described the victory as a powerful endorsement of the “Ìkòródú First” agenda.

‎ “The good people of Ìkòródú have spoken clearly and loudly. They are listening, and they are fully committed to continuity and accelerated progress,” the group noted.

‎This resounding victory at the primaries marks the successful completion of the first phase of the electoral process. With Hon. Benson emerging as the APC candidate, attention has now shifted to the second and final phase, the general election.

‎INDIGENE therefore calls on all residents of Ìkòródú Federal Constituency, irrespective of party affiliation, to prepare to vote massively for Hon. Babajimi Benson. “This is not merely about personality; it is about sustaining the unprecedented developmental strides that the constituency is currently enjoying,” the statement emphasised.

‎Hon. Benson’s legislative and constituency performance remains unmatched in the history of Ìkòródú politics. His strategic interventions in infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and economic development have delivered tangible dividends that thousands of residents benefit from today.

‎The group urged the entire constituency to rally behind the man who has consistently placed Ìkòródú First, ensuring that the momentum of progress is not disrupted.

‎In the same vein, the group appreciates Mr AbdulKareem Shittu for his doggedness, love for the good people of Ìkòròdú. No doubt, he is equally qualified, but the current political calculations favour continuity if we must achieve the “Ìkòròdú first’ agenda to the letter.

‎On behalf of all residents of Ìkòròdú, the INDIGENE congratulates Hon. Jimi Benson for his landslide victory in the just concluded primary election. The victory should serve as a tonic to serve his people bigger and better. “Mr AbdulKareem Shittu is your brother, and a member of your party, extend the olive branch to him and lead him in the “Ìkòròdú First” agenda.”
