Ikorodu Holds 2026 Oro Magbo Festival May 14

It’s another Oro Magbo festival in Ikorodu which is celebrated for the purpose of traditional cleansing and offering prayers for peace and prosperity in the Kingdom.

The Magbo celebration, which is usually the first of two annual Oro festivals in Ikorodu Kingdom has been on for about week with a grand finale slated for Thursday, May 14th, when the female folks are not allowed outside or to come into the community throughout the entire day until around 7:00am on Friday.

Wednesday which is the eve of the festival is usually beehive of social gatherings especially in Ijomu ward of the town which have the traditional and ancestral claim to the Oro deity.

Women who have business in Ikorodu on Thursday are enjoined to come into the community before 12midnight on Wednesday and stay indoors throughout the celebration. Those that will be passing through the popular Ikorodu Road to Shagamu are advised to make use of Agric/Isawo Road to link Agbede/Ita Oluwo, to avoid coming into the town during the festival.

Those residing in Imota, Ijede, Igbogbo communities can also make use of the Igbogbo/Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road that is nearing completion to connect Ebute/Ipakodo to link Ogolonto/Lagos Road.
