The Liaison Council of Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID), is set to hold its 2026 Ikorodu Division General Assembly, to further chart the path of growth and development for the division.
The General Assembly and Award Ceremony slated for 11:00am on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, will hold at the Ikorodu Ultra -Modern Town Hall.
Chairman of the planning committee, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, announced the event during a pre – event press conference held at the Gbadamosi Boardroom of the Ikorodu Town Hall on Monday.
A renowned scholar, Professor Adele Jinadu, will deliver a paper on the theme of the 2026 edition General Assembly, “Diversity and Inclusive Governance in a Democratic Dispensation: Setting Boundaries and Weighing the Pros and Cons”.

Prince Ogunlewe, addressing journalists, said that the upcoming event is a follow-up to the second Biennial General Assembly in 2024.
According to him, the event will serve as a platform to review the performance scorecard of public office holders and showcase the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of corporate entities over the past two years.
“During the programme, the performance score cards of public office holders and Corporate Social Responsibilities of corporate entities are showcased for the citizens to acknowledge and appreciate. It is more or less a compendium of their contributions to the progress of the Division in the past two (2) years,” Prince Ogunlewe said.
While stating that the EPID General Assembly serves a veritable forum for robust discourse on Ikorodu leadership and developmental matters, Prince Ogunlewe emphasised that some of the recommendations from the event two years ago are being pursued by the body.

He listed the organisation of Annual Boat Regatta and other aquatic festivities in waterfront communities in Ikorodu Division to promote tourism.
Also mentioned was the establishment of a military hospital and Command Secondary School in 174 Battalion at Odogunyan, Ikorodu which he added has been adopted for implementation by Hon. Babajimi Benson – the Chairman of House Committee on Defence and the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
In addition, the planning committee chairman also mentioned the proposal for regeneration of core i.e. traditional and unplanned settlements in major towns in the division in partnership with Lagos State Urban Renewal Board.

Prince Ogunlewe, who was a former Head of Service, Lagos State, stated that detailed progress on these recommendations will be delivered by the Chairman of the Liaison Council on the day of the General Assembly.
The planning committee chairman used the press parley to extend invitations to political leaders, government officials, public servants, corporate executives, and all stakeholders to attend the General Assembly.
Also speaking, Chairman, Liaison Council of Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID), Bashorun Tajudeen Rotinwa emphasised on EPID’s efforts in making sure the people of Ikorodu enjoys the dividends of democracy through project monitoring and giving recognition to deserving representatives and bodies.

“We, the Eminent Persons of Ikorodu are only interested in looking at and monitoring projects and also liaising with relevant government agencies either federal or state.
“On the issue of award, any public servant that has done projects to the satisfaction of the residents, are usually identified and honoured with an award. For Jimi Benson, he has facilitated so many things and we want to encourage that excellence throughout all the sectors. We are not the one funding the project, we just monitor and make sure that Ikorodu Division gets the dividends of democracy.”
Mrs O.O.T Benson, a chieftain of the group, in her own remarks called on indigenes of Ikorodu Division and residents to join hands with EPID in developing and moving Ikorodu forward.

Other notable people at the press conference included Chief Tele Oduloye, Mr Faruq Giwa, Alhaja Kudirat Lamina, Princess B.B Sanni Ladega, Dr Mufta Olowookere, Hon. Kazeem Showemimo and Mr Prju Akinyemi.
