-Council boss urges participation as CVR moves closer

In line with the administration’s commitment to promoting civic participation and democratic inclusion, the Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, has commenced the ward-based Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise—an initiative designed to make voter registration more accessible by bringing the process closer to residents at the grassroots.
Speaking during a visit to the Igbokuta registration centre, the Council Chairman emphasized that political awareness begins with civic responsibility. He noted that active participation in the voter registration process is essential to strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring effective representation.

He also commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Imota LCDA, Hon. Ramon Akinyemi, for mobilising residents to take proactive steps toward building a responsive and participatory democracy.
Hon. Benson further stressed that voter apathy and negligence in registration only weaken collective representation and slow down developmental progress at both local and state levels.
“Mass participation at the grassroots is key to building a stronger, united APC in Imota. Party members are urged to invite friends, neighbours, ward members, and fellow APC supporters to take advantage of this opportunity. Every vote counts, and every voice matters. Our democracy can only grow stronger when we all take part in shaping the leadership that determines our future”, Hon. Benson said.

Also speaking at the registration centre, the Leader of the Imota Legislative Arm and Councillor representing Ward D, Hon. Oluwole Adesina, described the exercise as orderly, efficient, and progressing smoothly without any reported challenges. He commended INEC officials for their professionalism, and encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity to register, update their voter information, or replace lost PVCs.
“The BSA-BOJ administration remains committed to promoting civic responsibility, youth participation, and good governance. We urge parents, community leaders, and stakeholders to encourage their wards and community members to register and obtain their PVCs. Let us come out en masse, get registered, and prepare to make our votes count”, he said.
He also called on eligible youths to rise above political apathy and take responsibility for their civic duties, noting that the exercise is a golden opportunity for residents to be counted among those shaping the future of the country.

The ongoing exercise forms part of INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration programme, which involves the rotation of INEC Voter Enrolment Devices (IVEDs) across registration areas in Lagos State, to ensure wider coverage and inclusion. The ward-based CVR in Imota LCDA is scheduled to run from February 2, 2026, to April 10, 2026.
Residents of Imota LCDA are, therefore, urged to come out in large numbers to participate, as voter registration remains a fundamental civic responsibility and a cornerstone of participatory governance.
