As schools across Ikorodu Division resumed for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session, Alhaji Taiwo Abiodun Odumbo, the Education Secretary, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu, embarked on a comprehensive monitoring exercise to ensure a smooth and impactful start to learning activities.

During his visit to various schools, the Education Secretary emphasised the effective utilisation of the Hope Edu Textbooks, a Lagos State Government provided learning resource distributed to all public primary schools. These textbooks, covering Basic One through Basic Six, are designed to enhance curriculum delivery and ensure that every pupil has access to quality learning materials.

During the tour, Alhaji Odumbo also monitored the official commencement of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Training across the LGEA. This innovative pedagogical approach, developed in Africa, focuses on identifying and supporting upper primary pupils who may be lagging behind in foundational skills.

“By tailoring instruction to each learner’s current level, TaRL aims to bridge learning gaps and better prepare pupils for the transition to secondary education.

“Ikorodu is proud to be one of the six LGEAs selected for the pilot phase of this transformative initiative. The training, which will span eight days, is being closely supervised by Dr. Umar, the designated TaRL representative for Ikorodu. His presence underscores the importance of fidelity in implementation and the commitment to measurable outcomes.”
