Classroom Building Collapses On Teachers, Pupils In Ikorodu

Collapsed Odokekere Community Junior Secondary School, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA)

A classroom building at the at Odokekere Community Junior Secondary School, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, on Thursday collapsed on students and teachers while they were in class.

According to eye witnesses, no casualties were recorded, as occupants were said to have escaped with minor injuries.

A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media platform X, was shared by @omoelerinjare, who expressed concern over the safety of students.

“This Odokerere High School at Ikorodu, the school collapsed while the students were receiving lectures in the class, but we thank God nothing happened. A lot of things could have happened to those children if not that they were smart enough to quickly escape and rescue themselves.”

The speaker who at a point was emotional, alleged that school authorities attempted to prevent people from recording the incident.

“The funniest part is that the school authorities were shouting on the people not to video the collapsed building. This is too much to bear,” she lamented.

Residents were heard on the video shouting , “Thank you Jesus” over the rescued students.

The incident has generated several responses calling on the Lagos State Government to ensure safety of students in various schools.
