The construction of a block of six classrooms by the authority of the Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), at the Methodist Primary School, Imota, has been completed.
Hon. Benson Sunday, Executive Chairman, Imota LCDA, started the project last year’s October.
According to the Office of the Media & Publicity Engagement of the Chairman, the project is part of the administration’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment, and promoting quality education in the council.
The facility has four toilet rooms for the pupils, two each for male and female pupils, as well as two additional toilets for teachers.

The statement added that the project forms part of the ongoing infrastructure development drive aimed at addressing long-standing challenges confronting public schools, improving learning conditions, and fostering overall community development, adding that the newly constructed toilet facility followed a needs assessment tour conducted by the Benson-led administration, which identified the lack of sanitary facilities as an urgent concern affecting the school.
Speaking on the project, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele explained that the initiative was designed to bring relief to both staff and pupils of the school, who had endured years without proper toilet facilities during school hours. He noted that the absence of such basic amenities had negatively impacted learning and overall student welfare.

“Our new construction projects are functionally designed and well-oriented to ensure adequate natural lighting and ventilation. They are well-finished to guarantee durability, with concrete-framed structures and modern toilet facilities for both pupils and teachers, including reliable water supply from public mains and boreholes”, he said.
The Council Chairman further charged pupils of the school to remain focused on their studies and strive for academic excellence, stressing that education remains the best legacy and foundation for sustainable development.
He also urged the school management and staff to take collective responsibility for maintaining and protecting the newly constructed facilities.
