The former Chairmanship aspirant for the Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Ibrahim Alani Onibudo, has kept his dream for Ikorodu alive despite his inability to get the opportunity of administering council during the last year’s council elections.
He aspired for the chairmanship position along with about 20 other aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but the party opted to pick the incumbent, Prince Adedayo Ladega, as its candidate who went on to win the election.
However, in commemoration of his birthday, Onibudo, who ran his campaign then based on issues, released a statement espousing the Ikorodu of his dream by envisioning a productive and prosperous city where agriculture, health, education, transportation, social services among others are not just working but are effective.
”IT IS MY BIRTHDAY!
”It is my birthday, and I will like to use this opportunity to briefly describe the ‘Ikorodu of my Dream’ where Ikorodu undoubtedly becomes the Headquarters.
”I dream of a city of Ikorodu where our vast agricultural lands are fully mechanized, productive, and transformed into hubs for food security; producing surplus food for our people. Healthcare services are accessible, affordable, and of the highest standards”.
Highlighting his educational dream for Ikorodu, Onibudo envisioned a functional, skill based and quality education that would make children and youths from Ikorodu highly competitive in the global circle.
”In the Ikorodu that I envisioned, the education of our children and youths are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to compete globally, while remaining rooted in our culture. Social services are highly functional, inclusive, and accessible to all, especially supporting the most vulnerable among us”.
While also seeing the possibilities of running an effective transport system within the Ikorodu city, Onibudo also dream of a green friendly environment, and a city that would be the economic hub.
”Our roads, transportation systems, and other utilities are reliable and modern, while our environment is clean, green, and sustained through renewable energy. Economic growth is intentional and all-inclusive, driven by innovation, entrepreneurship, and excellent implementation”.
