Following the commencement of the electronic membership registration into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, the Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon.Benson Sunday Ayodele, has urged residents in the council to register to be members of the party.

He charged both old and intending residents to take advantage of the registration window to be stakeholders within the party.

The official commencement witnessed Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele and his Vice Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh, validating their membership at the party’s secretariat, becoming the first party members in the council area to be registered electronically.

Speaking after his registration, the council boss, encouraged all party members and supporters to participate in the exercise to validate their membership status actively.

“For us to know that you are a member of this party, you have to participate in this important exercise. Without the APC membership card, you cannot claim to be a member of this party. You cannot contest for any position, and you cannot vote in party elections,” he stated.

Hon. BSA used the occasion to call on residents to continue supporting his administration, assuring party members that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free registration process. He expressed confidence that the digital registration would further strengthen unity and coordination within the APC in the local council area.

He added that the electronic registration process, which requires the National Identification Number (NIN), would allow the party to maintain a more accurate and credible membership database, enable direct communication with registered members, and ensure transparent access to the local government programmes and interventions, and noted that the APC remained an inclusive political platform.

APC Chairman in Imota LGA, Hon. Ramoni Akinyemi, explained that the e-registration exercise is designed to digitalise the party’s membership records, eliminate duplication, and ensure accurate documentation of members across Imota LCDA, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large.

He added, “The exercise will enhance internal organisation, improve planning, and boost the party’s preparedness for upcoming elections.”

The party chairman also assured party members that trained and computer-literate personnel have been deployed across the four political wards to ensure a smooth process.

He noted that the exercise aligns with the APC’s nationwide effort to modernise its membership structure, allowing existing members to update their records while creating room for new entrants into the party.

The e-registration exercise is part of the broader nationwide efforts to revamp its membership database, strengthen its organisational structure, and reposition itself for future elections.
