The Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Tuesday, signed the ₦5.047 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, marking the commencement of a new fiscal year and reinforcing the council’s commitment to sustainable development across Imota LCDA.
The approved budget, according to the Office of the Chairman in a statement on Wednesday, allocates ₦3.223 billion to recurrent expenditure, representing 64% of the estimates, while ₦1.823 billion is set aside for capital expenditure components of the budget, representing 36.
“The spending plan is designed as a strategic blueprint to consolidate past achievements, while laying a solid foundation for future growth”, the statement added.
Hon. Benson commended the strong synergy between the legislative and the executive arms of the council, noting that the collaboration was instrumental to the successes recorded in the previous year.
He urged council officials to demonstrate total commitment and passion in service delivery, stressing that non-performance would not be tolerated.
The Council Chairman emphasized that the effective implementation of the 2026 budget is critical to improving residents’ well-being and aligning with the administration’s “Hi-SEE” Transformation Agenda, which focuses on investing in transformative projects that drive economic growth and positively impact lives and businesses.
“Today, I signed the 2026 budget as passed by the Legislative Arm of Imota LCDA. The budget will enable us to deliver infrastructural development across our communities in line with our “Hi-SEE” agenda, addressing issues on education, health, security, women empowerment, youth empowerment, and other critical areas”, he said.
Describing the bill as the “Budget of Strategic Impact”, Hon. Benson noted that the budget goes beyond figures.
“This budget is more than numbers; it is a commitment to building the Imota LCDA that works for everyone. Every allocation is tied to our vision for a Greater Imota LCDA that thrives now and in the future”.
He further charged council officials to approach the year with renewed dedication.
“This is not a year for excuses; it is a year for action. We must break all barriers, go the extra mile and deliver. When we deliver, we will be recognized and celebrated”.
Also speaking, the Leader of the House, Hon. Adeshina Oluwole, praised the chairman for his transparency and inclusive style of governance, affirming the legislative arm’s support for the administration.
“The budget was thoroughly scrutinized and several adjustments were made. We are confident these adjustments will translate into tangible improvements and drive development across our various communities”, Oluwole stated.
He assured continued cooperation between both arms of government in the interest of residents.
“The Legislative Arm remains committed to working with the Executive, so that the people of Imota LCDA will continue to enjoy responsive and effective leadership”.
It will be recalled that in December 2025, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele presented the ₦5.047 billion 2026 budget proposal titled, “The Budget of Strategic Impact,” to the Legislative Chamber.
The budget prioritizes infrastructure, education, health, security, youth and women empowerment, underscoring the administration’s people-centered development agenda.
