The former Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barr. Saheed Shillings, has felicitated the former first Head of Service of Lagos State from Ikorodu Division, Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa, on his 80th birthday anniversary.
Bashorun Rotinwa, who was also a former Chairman, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission and former Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) and Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board (ITHMB), celebrated his birthday on Sunday, June 29.
Barr. Shillings, in a statement celebrating the elder statesman, said that the celebrant rose from a very humble background to attain a very prominent position at the state and community levels.
“From a humble background (according to àrobá), Bashorun mingled with the positive minded and seized his opportunity to travel abroad. Came back in flying colours and there was a myriad of opportunities for his election. He found his way into the civil service, and dedication and savvy made his rise uncommon.
“Rising to the level of Head of Service is no mean achievement. He imprinted his mark in the sand of history laying policies that shaped today’s local government structure of Lagos State where he was appointed for further service as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission under the administration of Governor Ambode”, he said.
The legal practitioner also acknowledged the important roles that the celebrant has been playing and still playing in Ikorodu social, economic and political circles, while also emphasizing that he has been an inspiration to many.
“As the immediate past Chairman of The Exclusives; men with integrity, during whose tenure sweeping and revolutionary transformation commenced, member, Oriwu Club, member, Crystal Club, member, Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Group, member, Conference of Leaders of Ikorodu Division, member, Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division and member, Apex Body of the ruling All Progressives Congress ((APC) in Ikorodu. It is debatable if anyone could be more ‘Ikorodu’ than Bashorun Rotinwa.
“He has been a source of inspiration and ladder to many young ones. Cheerful and careful about perfection and details. He is a financial and moral contributor to associations and causes he believes in and a social positive in all ramifications.
“It’s been 80 good years of positive life for which many wished him another round.
“Happy birthday, Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa! And many happy returns!”, Barr. Shillings congratulated Bashorun Rotinwa.
