A former Chairmanship aspirant for Ikorodu Local Government, Comrade Japheth Abolade Odesanya, has pleaded with Nigerians to give the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a chance to enable him turnaround the country.
Odesanya, who was a former students’ leader and a pro – democracy activist, said that the Tinubu’s administration is truly working towards renewing the hope of the country and its citizenry.

He made the appeal on the Television Continental (TVC) Breakfast programme while analysing the topic: ‘Ahead of Democracy Day: Reflecting on our Journey, Embracing the Future’, during which he said that the administration of President Tinubu has given the people something to celebrate in his two years administration.
“I have seen a President that has attracted $50billion investment. I have seen a President that has been able to offset $10billion COVID 19 debt.
“I have seen the celebration and commissioning of Lagos – Calabar Coastal Road, although, some people are criticizing it, which is fine, but something monumental has started.

“I have seen over 500, 000 students that have been able to access loans, which is a great one. We have tried. There has been increase in the national minimum wage and NYSC wage”.
He described the President as a man of vison who has also taken drastic steps in empowering the local governments and made dividends of democracy reached the common people through local government autonomy and increase allocations to the council and the state.

“I see a man who has courage and vision. A man who brought to us local government autonomy means well but for certain political reasons, we have not seen that being properly practiced. So, for Mr President to have gone to that extent to say lets give autonomy….
“I have seen a President who has increased the monthly allocations by 60% to states and local governments. The federal government is just the warehouse, we should be talking and focusing more about the state governors and local government chairmen. That is why we need to educate the citizens.

“I have seen a President who has gone as low as building Primary Health Centres (PHC). Over 9000 built and over 5000 are being upgraded.
“I have also seen a government that has established five additional development commissions. So, we are gradually getting there. All coming on board to reduce poverty and integrating the system, reducing poverty and elevating life,” he added.
Odesanya, making appeal for support, said that he sees a renewed hope truly coming to Nigeria, after the truncation of late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola’s election on June 12.

“I want to appeal that we should give this system a chance. This government; this present administration should be given a chance. I see renewed hope truly coming. Hope was dashed in 1993, and it was a Muslim – Muslim ticket and Nigerians voted, they didn’t care about the religion. He has come to say that people should prove him wrong.
“Somebody has come to say that we can renew this hope, again, Muslim – Muslim ticket: Tinubu/Shettima. What has religion has to do with governance,” he asked rhetorically.
