All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) has charged residents of the council to reignite June 12 which is adjudged as the most free, fair and transparent in the history of Nigeria’s democratic process.
Aroyewun said that they can do this by participating fully and coming out massively to vote in the forthcoming Local Government/LCDAs.
He made the appeal in a statement commemorating the 32nd anniversary of June 12 when Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola won the Presidential election but the poll was annulled by the military junta.
“Dear Patriotic Residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA,
“On this historic occasion of Democracy Day, I extend my warmest felicitations to us all. Today, we commemorate the indomitable spirit of June 12, 1993, a day when Nigerians, united in purpose, demonstrated the power of democracy through their unwavering commitment to free and fair elections.
“This day is evidence of the sacrifices of our heroes. It is a reminder of the collective strength we wield and the success we can achieve when we stand together for justice, progress, and good governance.
“Certainly we can have another June 12 on July 12. I therefore call on every resident of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA to reignite the legacy of June 12 by actively participating in the forthcoming local government election on July 12, 2025, across Lagos State and support the candidates of the All Progressives Congress all through.
“Let us make the coming election a true replica of the historic June 12 election marked by transparency, fairness, and massive voter turnout. The power to shape our future lies in our hands, and it begins with ensuring that our votes count and reflect our collective aspirations,” he charged.
He also called on residents to vote for his party, APC, which he said is the only party that guarantees good governance while also assuring that if elected as the Chairman, his administration would deliver on its promises by giving them good governance.
“By voting for APC, you are endorsing a vision of transformative leadership, sustainable development, and inclusive governance. In Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, our commitment to you remains steadfast: to deliver unparalleled infrastructural advancements, empower our youth through skills and opportunities, elevate education and healthcare services, enhance security, and foster economic prosperity for every household.
“On this Democracy Day, let us renew our resolve to define our path as a community and a nation. Let us make July 12, 2025, a day that echoes the triumph of June 12, 1993, a day when Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and Lagos State reaffirm their commitment to democracy and progress,” Aroyewun said.
