The Ikorodu -Oga Development Association (IKODASS) has once again appealed to the Lagos State Government for support especially in the areas of preservation and promotion of Ikorodu’s cultural heritage and traditions.
The new executive committee of IKODASS which is the umbrella body of all clubs, associations and societies within Ikorodu led by Alhaji Fatai Kolawole Ogunfodunrin, made the appeal when the team paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State, Mrs Toke Benson – Awoyinfa.

Prince Oba Dare Osikoya, the IKODASS Publicity Secretary, in a statement, said that the team was warmly received by the commissioner who appreciated the efforts towards the development of Ikorodu.
The IKODASS Chairman addressing the Hon.Commissioner during the visit expressed his displeasure at how Ikorodu is being short-changed in the area of support for tourism, culture and arts, unlike other divisions, and called for a change.
He also gave brief of all activities of IKODASS which is not limited to the annual Ikorodu Oga Day celebration.

Alhaji Ogunfodunrin also sought the support of the Arts, Culture and Tourism Ministry in ensuring that most of Ikorodu cultural programmes are supported by the State Government.
The Honourable Commissioner in her response to the IKODASS Chairman’s address, expressed being proud to be from Ikorodu counting several memories she had during her father’s lifetime at her young age.
She promised to do all she could to support Ikorodu.

Mrs Benson – Awoyinfa, also commended one of the strong pillars of IKODASS, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, who facilitated the visitation.
According to the IKODASS Publicity Secretary, she was presented with a frame of Ikorodu-Oga Anthem and another bigger one, showing the aerial view of the popular Ikorodu City roundabout, during which, Dr Muiz Banire, former Commissioner for Environment, Lagos State and Aremo Oniru, joined the presentation.

In return, statue of Eyo was presented to the IKODASS team by the Commissioner.
Other IKODASS executives that were part of the visitation were Olola Segun Iluyombo (Deputy Chairman), Mr. Anifowoshe Babatunde (Vice Chairman), Prince Temitayo Ogunsanya (Social Secretary), Mr. Kolawole Olabisi Esq. (Legal Adviser), Prince Okematti Azeez Adebola (Welfare Director) Mrs Bukola Ogundipe (Public Service Rep) among others.
