Hon. (Dr.) Oladeji Oluniyi Akinola, is a seasoned teacher, proprietor, administrator and philanthropist who understands the feelings of residents and care about the people. It is in his quest to continue to care for the masses and develop their community that he has ventured into the Chairmanship race to administer Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.
The educationist intends to achieve this on the platform of a major opposition party, both in Lagos and Nigeria, which provided an alternative for the people, the Labour Party (LP).
As a complete community man, Akinola is well known to the grassroots people in Ikorodu North LCDA, especially in the largest community within the council, Odogunyan. He understands their challenges which he aimed at addressing through his agenda for the transformation of Ikorodu North LCDA and that of the LP.
As an educationist, Dr. Akinola is the current chairman, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos. But he is not just an educationist, but a thorough and adequately trained one.
He bagged Bachelor in Technology (B. Tech (ED)), Masters in Education (M. ED.) in Educational Technology, and PhD in Educational Administration.
But as a young man thirsty for knowledge and personal developments, coupled with his quest to finding solutions to the myriad of problems confronting his society and humanity in general, Dr. Akinola also bagged Bachelor Theology, Bachelor of Arts (Religion and Peace Studies), and Masters of Arts (Christian Religion Studies).
He is a member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, and a distinguished member of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria.
As a teacher, Akinlola has trained and empowered over 10,000 youths who are doing very well in Nigeria and abroad and as an educational administrator, teacher of teachers, he has trained over 2000 teachers and 200 school proprietors/administrators.
On his impact on the community and as a philanthropist, Dr Akinola initiated and organized “Make Lasunwon Community Clean”.
Over the years, he has supported the less privileged and given financial assistance to individuals in need; given over two hundred(200) students scholarship to study in primary and secondary schools and Higher institutions of learning.
He also organised seminars for youths on moral values such as volunteer works, mentorship, speaking on social issues and leading by example.
He is a Patron, National Association of Ogun State Students, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu Chapter.
Akinola is also an Executive Member, Ijemo Titun High School, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta (Alumni).
Professionally, Dr. Akinola is a Distinguished Fellow, Institute of Leadership Manpower and Management Development.
He has bagged various awards in recognition of his contributions to the educational sector in Nigeria and abroad. He was bestowed with the Best Principal of the Year, 2024, Outstanding Teacher of the Year, 2022 and Most Supportive Man of the Year 2022, 2023 and 2024 among many others.
