The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria, OCOSAN, 1977 Set and Senior lecturer at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Dr Oluwole Sholanke (PhD, FCIB), has congratulated and charged winners of last Saturday’s primary elections of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos to see their victories as a greater call to serve.

While also saluting the losers for entrenching democracy by their participation, the scholar also charged them not to see failures to clinch their party tickets as the end of their political lives.

Dr Sholanke gave the charge in a chat with THE IMPACT on Monday.

“On behalf of the entire leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to all candidates who emerged victorious in the Chairmanship Primaries held on May 10, 2025, at the APC Secretariat, Ikeja.

“Your success is a testament to your dedication, perseverance, and the trust reposed in you by the delegates and our great party.

“Your emergence is not merely a personal triumph but a call to greater service. As we look forward to the upcoming elections on July 12, 2025, we urge you to carry the banner of our party with dignity, humility, and a firm commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.

“Remember, leadership is not about occupying a position but about serving the people and building a legacy of positive impact.

“To those who contested valiantly but did not clinch the ticket this time, I salute your courage and spirit. Democracy thrives on participation, and your involvement enriched the process, deepened our democratic values, and demonstrated the vibrancy of our internal party system,’ Dr Solanke said.

While the outcome may not have gone your way, your journey does not end here. Every experience is a stepping stone to future success, and we urge you to remain steadfast, loyal, and united with the party,” he exhorted.

He called for unity and cooperation amongst the winners and those that lost the elections in ensuring victory for the ruling party in the coming council elections.

“Our unity is our strength. We must now come together—winners and those yet to win— to work as one formidable team to ensure our party’s resounding victory in the general election.

“Let us focus on our shared goal: building a better Lagos State for all.

“Once again, congratulations to all aspirants. The future is bright, and together, we will keep the progressive spirit of Lagos alive.”
