The immediate past General Secretary, Igbogbo Day Development Association, Mr Idris Adeshina (Adido), has risen in solidarity with the aspiration of electing Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) as the next Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

Adeshina, who was former President, Igbogbo Students’ Union (ISU) 2006 – 2007, Clerk – SRC, ISU (2005) and Treasurer, ISU (2004), said that the aspirant played a major role as a coordinator in mobilising the community during the agitation for the creation of additional 37 Local Governments in Lagos that eventually led to the establishment of the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

He made the appeal for support in a statement titled, “A Solidarity Support For a True Believer In Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA”, sent to THE IMPACT on Thursday.

“In the struggle for the creation of 37 Local Council Development Areas during the tenure of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as an Executive Governor of Lagos State in Year 2003, Hamed Olalekan Aroyewun, a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State then was one of the coordinators that led members of Igbogbo Students’ Union under the leadership of Mr. Sanni Abidemi Yusuf (SAY) – President, Mr. Jelili Amusa – Secretary and Mr. Gbenga Oduniyi – Speaker, Students’ Representative Council (SRC) to galvanise support to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposed creation of 37 LCDAs including Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

“The roles played by Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) on this D-Day won my unalloyed support for his aspiration to succeed Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini as the next chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA,” he said in the statement.

He vouched that the aspirant will not only sustain the ongoing development going on in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, but also the legacies of leaders that have made great impacts over the years.

“I strongly believe that he will treasure jealously the LCDA we all laboured for the actualisation of and consolidate on the achievements of the incumbent Chairman by raising the bar of socio-economic development of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

“More importantly, the roles played by our fathers i.e., Adeboruwa in Council, Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA), Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Late Chief Reuben Adenrele Olowu, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe and Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola among others, remain evergreen in the actualisation of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA we are all enjoying today and I am optimistic HOA will not compromise the efforts of the names mentioned and that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu now President of Nigeria in ensuring the LCDAs are recognized by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I believe in HOA!!!,” Adeshina vouched.

Recall that the primary elections to elect the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 57 Local Councils across Lagos State is slated for Saturday, May 10, at ACME, Ikeja, and Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun is among the five aspirants from Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
