As part of efforts to promote participatory governance, the leadership of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has concluded a familiarisation tour across the council’s 140 Community Development Associations (CDAs) successfully.

A statement by Gbolahan Rafiu Omotosho, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, said that the 3-day tour, which took place across designated community venues including Ijede Library, Igbe-Ogunro Community, Oke-Eletu and Abule-Eko Town Halls, provided a vital platform for direct interaction between the council leadership and local stakeholders.

According to him, Mr. Babatunde Sofia, Head of Development for Agriculture, emphasised while addressing community representatives at one of the gatherings, that the tour is more than a ceremonial visitation.

“This tour is not just a routine engagement, it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to inclusive governance, and responsive service delivery. We recognize that the strength of any government lies in its connection with the people, and the CDAs remain the bedrock of community representation.”

“Throughout the different engagements, CDA leaders shared inspiring stories of progress including council-funded road repairs, educational support initiatives, and also presented urgent needs requiring government intervention. Issues raised included inadequate drainage systems, poor waste disposal, and localized security threats.

Responding on behalf of the council chairman, the Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Femi Kabir reiterated the administration’s resolve to implement both short-term palliatives and long-term solutions across all communities.

“We have listened to all your requests and we are ready to act. Our administration is committed to delivering people-centered development that improves everyday lives,” he assured residents.
