Obateru Commemorates 15th Coronation Anniversary With Hosting Of Ijebu Obas, Foundation Laying for Medical Facility

It was a landmark commemoration of 15th coronation anniversary as the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, as His Royal Majesty (Oba) Dr. Abdulhakeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, hosted the association of Ijebu Obas in Lagos State.

The anniversary, which was held last week, also witnessed the foundation laying ceremony of a Physiotherapy Department at the General Hospital, Ijede, donated by the Obateru.

While the first-class Oba hosted his fellow Ijebu Obas in his palatial palace facing the lagoon, invited guests were hosted within the palace premises, while they enjoyed the cool breeze from the lagoon and the serenity of the special atmosphere.

According to Obateru, the foundation laying for the Physiotherapy Department is a promise kept and a step towards fulfilling the dream of expanding the medical facility for the benefit of residents of Ijede LCDA.

His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and the Secretary of the ljebu Obas Forum, speaking with THE IMPACT at the Obateru palace, described the celebrant an epitome of royalty and everything good.

“Obateru is an epitome of royalty and everything good. He has brought colour and honour to Obateru stool and royalty in general.

“I wish him happy anniversary and congratulations to him on the landmark anniversary and his outstanding contributions to the development of Egbin Kingdom, Ijede LCDA and the Ikorodu Division in general.

“Long may Obateru lives “, Adeboruwa said.

Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, congratulating and lauding Obateru for his impacts, said that the monarch has used his personal resources to develop Egbin.

“Alhamdulilah, it has been 15 years of roller coaster; 15 years of grace and 15 years of growth.

“The Obatru of Egbin Kingdom, Oba Adeoriyomi, is a good man. He has so much love for his community and all the things about him is how Egbin will develop. He uses his personal resources to develop the Egbin community. He takes anything that has to do with his people and his community to heart.

“So, I am happy for him because 15 years ago, Egbin was not like this; 15 years ago, our palace was not like this; 15 years a ago, the community was not like this, and this is just the beginning; a tip of iceberg of what Obateru has for his community.

“All he thinks about is how Egbin will become big London. I am happy for him. I am happy for the growth, and I am looking forward to more growth.

While wishing the monarch a long reign, Hon. Gbadebo -Alogba also prayed for more development for his kingdom.

“I expect more growth in the community. I know that our community will have an amusement park and other things will be coming into this community, and companies as well, because Obateru has so much dreams, and may God give him the grace to do all that he desires for his Kingdom”, she prayed.

The Director of Information & Public Relations, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Otunba Lanre Kuye, also congratulating and celebrating the monarch, said:

“Well, this kabiyesi has brought openness, candor, zenith, all other good things of life to the Obaship of Egbin.

“We are celebrating him today because he has done well. I am happy for him. I was there when he was crowned. I am happy that I am here now and I pray that I will be here when he will be celebrating more”, Otunba Kuye said.

He too expects more transformation of Egbin under Oba Oyebo’s reign in the coming years.

“My expectation from Kabiyesi in the coming years is that I want him to change Egbin completely and take it to the next level. He has done very well in the last 15 years, but I still want him to do more in the coming years.”

Prince Bello Adeniyi Yusuf, a former aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly, also speaking at the anniversary ceremony, commended Obateru.

“For the past 15 years, it has been a turnaround in Egbin kingdom, because before now, we know how Egbin was, but with his emergence as the king of Egbin, there has been a big transformation.

“He is a king that is giving back to the community, and adding value as well. He is always thinking of how to develop his community and his people. You can see that he is focused on human development by establishing primary and secondary schools.

“Hopefully and by God’s grace, we will have a university or college of education in Egbin soon”.
