Otunba Olukoga, Hamzat, Withdrew From Chairmanship Race In Ikorodu, Ijede Councils

The former Special Adviser on Education, Otunba (Dr) Fatai Olajide Olukoga, has withdrawn his aspiration to administer the Ikorodu Local Government decades after he had the mandate to administer the Ojo Local Government.

Otunba Olukoga who oversaw the activities of tertiary institutions across Lagos State during his time as the Special Adviser on Education, announced his withdrawal from the 2025 chairmanship race in a chat with our reporter last night.

He simply responded to our reporter’s question when he was asked if he had purchased the party’s nomination form: “I have stepped down from the race.”

Recall that THE IMPACT broke the news of Otunba Olukoga’s entry into the race on the eve of the final screening for the aspirants before the party considered three other aspirants that were not available for the initial screening about three weeks ago.

In Ijede, Falilu Olamide Hamzat popularly called ‘Faloo’ also announced his withdrawal from the race. And declared his support for the incumbent Ijede LCDA chairman, Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba.

He announced his stepping down for the incumbent on the Ijede LCDA Updates WhatsApp platform last night.

“As a loyal party member and in line with the directives of our leaders, I wish to announce that I will be stepping down from my ambition to contest for the Chairmanship position. I wholeheartedly support our incumbent lady chairman for a second term in office as directed by the party,” he said.

Hamzat also declared his support for Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba.

It was also gathered that another aspirant in Ijede LCDA, Tayo Razaq has also withdrawn from the race, so also are the two remaining aspirants.

Otunba (Dr) Fatai Olajide Olukoga, a former Special Adviser on Education was also a retired Permanent Secretary, an author, former council administrator and former Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS).

He was appointed as the Chairman, Ojo Local Government, during the transition from military rule to the civilian administration, and was among the council administrators that transferred power to elected civilian administrators at the Local Government level.

Otunba Olukoga was also a former aspirant for the Ikorodu Federal House of Representatives seat in 2014 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was among the aspirants that lost to Rep. Babajimi Benson on his entry into Ikorodu political space.

He was a former member, Governor’s Advisory Committee (GAC) during Governor Babatunde Fashola’s administration, and former member, Lagos State Electoral Law Review Committee. He was a former Director, Arts and Culture, Parastatals Monitoring Office,and former Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office and Ministry of Youths, Sports and Social Development, Lagos State.
